Kara Thomay at her workbench assembling a miniature library clock — Sunday at the bench

A note from our founder

Why your clock takes 4–5 weeks

Hi, I'm Kara. Every Zeequa clock starts as a bare wooden frame on my workbench. The shelves are cut, sanded and painted by hand, the tiny books are folded one by one, and every candle is wired and tested before it goes in the box.

Over the last few weeks our little clocks went viral on TikTok and Instagram, and orders arrived faster than our small studio has ever seen. We could rush them. We'd rather keep making them the slow, careful way.

So here's the honest version: when you order today, your clock is made for you, and it reaches your door in about 4–5 weeks. It's worth the wait, I promise.

With love from the bench,

Kara Thomay

The details

Everything that comes in the box.

Your Zeequa library clock, fully assembled and lit-tested for 48 hours
Wall-mount bracket, two heavy-duty anchors and screws
Batteries for the LED candles, the mini lamp and the clock movement
Illustrated hanging guide (about 5 minutes, one drill hole)
Signed authenticity card with your edition number
Signature burgundy gift box with a moulded insert, ready to gift

Diameter 55–60 cm (21.5–23.5 in), depth about 10 cm (4 in), weight about 2.5 kg (5.5 lb). Birch wood case and shelves with three coats of hand-brushed paint and a matte wax finish. Miniature books are hand-bound in paper and faux leather; the art prints sit in tiny wooden frames; the vase is ceramic-look resin.

The tea candles and the mini lamp are warm-white LEDs with a natural flicker, switched on and off together from a switch on the back. They run on the included batteries for roughly 120 hours of evenings, stay cool to the touch and are safe around children, pets and paperbacks. No open flame, ever.

A quiet quartz movement with a sweeping second hand, so there is no ticking in a silent room. It runs on one AA battery (included) and the hands are set from the back.

Every clock leaves our Los Angeles studio with tracking, and you get an email the moment it ships. Because every clock is handmade to order, please allow 4–5 weeks from order to delivery. US shipping is free over $200 (tracked and insured); Canada and international rates show at checkout. Full shipping details.

Hang it and live with it for 30 days. If it isn't right, email us for a prepaid return label and a full refund. After that, every clock is covered by our 2-year craftsmanship warranty: frame, shelves, lights and movement are repaired or replaced free.

Yes. Because each piece is assembled by hand, the exact placement of books, candles and art varies slightly from the photos. Your clock will be recognisably the edition you chose, and subtly yours alone.

Unboxing it felt like a gift to myself

The box alone is gorgeous — tissue paper, a little card with my edition number, batteries already in. Then you lift it out and the candles are flickering. I actually gasped.

The lights are even better in person

Filmed this for my sister because she didn't believe the little lamp actually glows. It does. The candles flicker like real tea lights and the whole thing is dead silent — no ticking.

Better than the photos

Every tiny book has a different texture, the framed prints look like real oil paintings, and you can see the brush strokes in the paint. It reads as handmade in the best way.

My reading corner finally feels finished

I'd been staring at that blank wall above my chair for a year. Hung it in ten minutes with the bracket they include. My cat approves, obviously.

Verified

I fall asleep to the candle glow

It hangs above my bed and I leave the lights on while I read. Warm, not bright. Batteries still going after three weeks of every single night.

Verified

Night mode is pure magic

With the room lights off it's the only thing glowing and it looks like a tiny lit bookshop. Guests walk straight up to it. Worth every penny.

Arrived safe, hung in five minutes

I was nervous about shipping something this delicate but the moulded insert kept every miniature in place. One drill hole, done. The sweep second hand is silent.

Bought one for my daughter, kept one for me

Ordered the pair to save 10% and honestly couldn't part with the second one. She got the Heritage, I kept the Reading Room. Both of us light them every evening.

Gorgeous — just plan your wall

It's bigger than it looks online (about two feet across), so measure first. Craftsmanship is lovely and support answered my mounting question within an hour.

The best gift I've given in years

For my book-club friend's 60th. She cried. The gift box needs no wrapping and the little authenticity card made it feel like a real collector's piece.

That tiny lamp!

I didn't expect the little lamp to have an actual shade that glows. It's the detail everyone notices first. Looks stunning on a dark wall.

Quiet, warm, beautifully made

I work from home and wanted something on the wall behind me for calls. Everyone asks about it. Zero ticking, and the paint finish photographs beautifully.
