Your Zeequa clock is sturdier than it looks, but it is still a tiny library. A few habits keep it looking like the day it arrived.
Unboxing
- Open the carton on a table, not the floor. Lift the gift box out by its sides.
- Remove the lid and the top foam insert. Lift the clock out with both hands on the rim, never by the shelves or the centre disc.
- Peel off the protective film over the candles and lamp, and remove the battery tabs on the back.
- Keep the box and inserts for at least 30 days in case you need to return or move it.
Hanging
- Choose a wall out of direct sunlight and away from radiators, fireplaces and steam (bathrooms, above the stove).
- Use the supplied bracket, anchors and screws. The Standard clock weighs about 2.4 kg (5.3 lb); a single picture hook is not enough.
- Mark the bracket height, check it with a level, fix the anchors, then hook the clock on and press gently until it sits flat.
- Set the time with the small wheel on the back of the movement, never by pushing the hands.
Batteries and lights
- The movement takes one AA battery. The candles and lamp share a two-AA pack on the back; a switch next to it turns the lights on and off.
- Expect roughly 120 hours of candlelight from a fresh pair. Switch the lights off when you're away to stretch it.
- Use good alkaline batteries and replace both at once. Remove them if you store the clock for more than a month.
Cleaning
- Dust the shelves and miniatures with a soft make-up brush or a gentle puff of air every few weeks.
- Wipe the painted frame with a dry microfibre cloth. No water, sprays or polish; the matte wax finish doesn't like them.
- If a miniature ever comes loose, a dot of clear craft glue puts it back. Or email us and we'll send a replacement.
Moving house
Lift the clock off the bracket, put it back in its gift box with the inserts, lights off, and carry it flat. If you no longer have the box, email us and we'll send a shipping insert for the cost of postage.
